Remscheid, March 2017 – Car races through the dusty deserts and savannas of South Africa are an endurance test for man and machine. The globally renowned tool manufacturer's local branch has been sponsoring the racing team since 2014 as a product partner – and thus making a decisive contribution to many rally successes.
The Shield Racing Team around George Smalberger and Chris Brand is named after the main sponsor Shield Chemicals. For many years it has participated in regional and national track and rally racing events in South Africa. For high-end races like the Extreme Supercar Series the drivers use a Golf 5 GTI. In the smaller National and Northern region rallies a VW Polo is the team's vehicle of choice.
