Fast, strong, precise: GEDORE LHD-75

The heavy-duty torque wrench for wind power plants

Fast, strong, precise: GEDORE LHD-75

November 2016

Thanks to its powerful brushless drive and the stable power supply, the powered torque wrench is ideal for all challenging tasks that call for flexibility and precision.

Vaihingen/Enz – Strong forces are in play in wind power generation. To ensure that systems run safely, efficiently and for as long as possible, the quality of bolted connections in particular must be unimpeachable. This is achieved with the new wind energy torque wrench LHD-75 by GEDORE Torque Solutions, which has an exceptional repeat precision of +/- 2 percent and impressive strength and speed.

High-speed torque wrench with stable voltage

The latest-generation wind power torque wrench is designed for a torque range of 800 to 7500 N·m and for all standard bolting processes (torque and torque/torque angle processes). It combines its tremendous strength with a speed that is without equal: powered by a brushless, and therefore particularly efficient, low-wearing DC motor, the battery of the LHD Powerbox provides 3000 watts that have the high-speed screwdriver rotating at 10.3 rotations per minute. Thanks to this brushless technology, the LHD-75 is more than twice as fast at set-up as comparable high-performance torque wrenches – for faster insertion bolt by bolt.

A stable voltage supply is often not possible in installation, repair or maintenance tasks on wind power plants. This affects the precision of electrically powered bolting devices – but not with the LHD-75: the LHD Powerbox uses voltage transformation to provide a stable voltage supply, which in turn allows the heavy-duty torque wrench to work efficiently and safely in all weathers, in-shore and off-shore. It is also far more durable and much quieter than hydraulic torque wrenches, and does not require any environmentally unfriendly hydraulic oil to operate.

Zero-error strategy for maximum precision

The torque is easy to set in 10-N·m-steps on the large, clearly laid-out colour display. The set value appears on the magnetic and detachable LC display. Once it has been reached, an acoustic signal occurs. This visual and acoustic zero-error strategy plays a major role in achieving the precision of this high-speed wind energy torque wrench. When required, bolting operations can be stored on the LOCK/QS module. Another option is the documentation of all bolted connections using LH.TRACK. The LHD-75 has an inductive interface for data transmission. The adjustable straps make working with it even easier, and ensure the optimum power distribution in any position.

The heavy-duty torque wrench by GEDORE Torque Solutions measures 175 x 340 x 495 mm (L x W x H), and weighs 14.6 kg including mains cable and accessories. It is supplied with the Powerbox, accessories case for cables and an individual factory certificate.
