The dual mechanical engineering course of study combines shortened vocational training as an industrial fitter or tool fitter with a full-time course of study to follow at the Bergische University of Wuppertal. The benefits for students come in the form of a close interaction between studies and the practical world, reduction of the training period by 1 year, early contacts with engineering companies and thus with potential employers, actually working as an engineer during vocational training, better prospects from being qualified in two courses of study and receipt of training remuneration.
